As mentioned, The HTML5 Project is basically me creating a (hopefully) pure HTML5 and CSS3 website, the end result being my getting my head around both technologies. I still have to work out things like wireframes and SEO but I’ve just about narrowed down what applications and code frameworks I’ll be using.
Adobe Dreamweaver CS5
I’m committing a web developer sin here by endorsing this product since most serious web developers hate it, but it’s not that bad for HTML5 development. Adobe’s Dreamweaver CS5 11.0.3 Updater contains an extension that allows for HTML5 code hinting, resulting in less coding errors (get it here). I’ve tested it and works well, so I’m using it.
Video For Everybody
HTML5 uses the open source .oog/.ogv video format. In order to convert video files to one of those formats, I’ll be using the Firefogg plug-in for Firefox to do so if I end up using video.
Those are the “must-haves”…here are the “maybes”:
- Adobe Fireworks (I may give this image editor a spin and see if it’s really better than PhotoShop for web stuff).
- WordPress (will most-likely go with this in the end, but I have looked at Drupal).
Please let me know if I’m missing something.
